Nursing Programs in B.C.

All programs are very competitive. Nonacademic prerequisites usually include: volunteering, first aid certificate, CPR certificate, immunization record, criminal record check, TB test etc.

Preference will be given to applicants with: Academic grades above the minimum and related experience. Grades and percentages posted below are a minimum.

Your LPN (Licensed Practical Nursing Program) is another option for admissions to get into the Nursing programs.

Most do not offer spots to International students.

BCIT:

Grade 12 students must apply to the Academic Foundations Certificate first. You cannot apply straight into the Nursing program from high school. Admission requirements into the Academic Foundations certificate are: English 12 (C+), Chemistry 11 is recommended. Math 11 Foundations or Pre-Calc.

Camosun College – Deadline to apply: December 15th (Partnership with UVIC)

English 12 (73%), One of Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-Calc 11 (73%) and Chemistry 11 or Chemistry 12 (73%), and Biology 12 (73%)

College of the Rockies – Deadline to apply: February 15th

Chem 11 (70%), Biology 12 (70%), English 12 (70%), Math 11 or 12 (70%)

Douglas College – Deadline to apply: Fall 2019 applications will open on October 1, 2018 at 8:30 am and will close on October 3, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.

Grade 12 students must apply to the Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing first. No direct entry into the Nursing program. The Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing requires: English 12 B or better, Biology 11 or 12 B or better and Foundations or Pre Calc of Math 11 or 12 B or better

Students offered a seat in this cohort will receive priority registration and have earlier access to the courses required for entry to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University

All intakes have been postponed indefinitely.

Langara College: Deadline to apply: January 31st

High school students must apply to the Citation in Foundation for Health Studies. No direct entry into Nursing from highschool.

Okanagan College:Deadline to apply: January 15th (partnership with UBC O)

English 12 (70%), One of Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-Calc 11 or Foundations of Math 12, (50%) Biology 11 or 12 (67%), and Chemistry 11/12, two other approved subjects (67%) and one other approved course.

Thompson Rivers University – Deadline to apply: January 31st

English 12 (73%), Foundations of Math 12 or Pre-Calc 12 (67%) and Chemistry 11 (67%) and Biology 12 (67%) and one other Grad 11 or 12 Science course (67%).

Trinity Western University – Deadline to apply: January 31st

English 12 (C+), Pre-Calc 11 or Foundations (C+), Biology 12 (C+), Chemistry 12 (C+).  B- average in all  courses.

University of British Columbia – Vancouver Campus

Third year entry only.

University of British Columbia – Okanagan Campus – Deadline to apply: January 15th

English 12, Biology 11 and 112, Chemistry 11 and Pre-Calc 11 or Foundations of Math 12 plus one other academic approved grade 12 course.

University of the Fraser Valley – Deadline to apply: January 31st

English 12 (67%), Either Foundations of Math 11 (C+) or Foundations of Math 12 (C+) or Pre-Calc 11 (C+), Biology 11 or 12 (C+) and Chemistry 11 (C+).

University of Northern British Columbia – Deadline to apply: March 31st

English 12 (67%) and Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Pre-Calc 11 or Foundations of Mathematics 11 (65%), Chemistry 11 (67%), Biology 12 (73%) and two other approved * Grade 12 courses and a fifth Grade 12 course (67%)

University of Victoria

Third year entry with at least a 3.0 (C+) grade point average.

Vancouver Community College

You will need University course in English, Biology, Psychology, Anthropology first before applying into the Nursing program. To apply to the following you will need: English 12 (C+), Chemistry 11, Biology 12, Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-Calc 11 or Foundations of Math 12.

Vancouver Island University – Deadline to apply: February 15th
